A Place to Sit, and Be Heard
Family matters carry a particular weight. At Tepak Sirih, we approach each situation with the quiet attention it deserves — drafting letters, guiding custody applications, and helping families arrange their affairs with clarity and respect.
What We Offer
Three Ways We May Assist
Initial Family Letter
A short, fixed-fee engagement in which the firm drafts a single letter to a family member or former spouse on your behalf, in measured language, with the aim of opening or sustaining a respectful conversation.
- Suitable when communication has cooled
- Drafted with care and tact
- One clear, composed message
Application for Sole or Joint Custody
Considered representation in custody applications under Malaysian civil family law. We prepare the application carefully, gather supporting documents, and attend hearings with full written updates at every stage.
- Child welfare kept central
- Mediation encouraged where available
- Full written updates throughout
Settled Family Legal Plan
A patient, multi-session engagement that brings parenting arrangements, financial settlements, wills, and family memoranda into a single ordered legal plan — moving at whatever pace suits your circumstances.
- Parenting arrangements included
- Wills and financial settlements
- Sessions may pause and resume
We are here when you are ready
Every family matter is different. Let us listen to yours.
There is no obligation in reaching out. A short conversation can clarify whether our services are suited to what you are facing — and what a reasonable next step might look like.
Common Questions
Frequently Asked
What happens during an initial enquiry?
We begin by listening. You describe your situation — at whatever level of detail you are comfortable with — and we ask a few clarifying questions. There is no pressure to proceed, and the conversation remains confidential.
How are the fees structured?
Each service carries a fixed fee stated clearly at the outset. For the Initial Family Letter, the fee is RM 320. For custody applications, RM 730 covers preparation and representation through hearings. The Settled Family Legal Plan is RM 980 for the full multi-session engagement. There are no surprise additions.
Do you handle matters outside Kuala Lumpur?
Our office is in Kuala Lumpur, and most hearings are attended in person there. For initial consultations and document review, we can accommodate remote meetings where the matter allows. Please mention your location when you write to us.
How long does a custody application typically take?
Timelines vary considerably depending on whether the application is contested, how complete the documents are at the outset, and court scheduling. We provide an honest estimate once we have reviewed your specific situation, and we keep you informed at every stage.
Is the Settled Family Legal Plan suitable for unmarried couples?
The plan can be adapted to a range of family structures. We will ask you to describe your situation so we can assess whether the services within the plan are applicable and useful to you before any commitment is made.
What documents should I bring to a first meeting?
There is no strict requirement for a first meeting. If you have any correspondence, court documents, or official records that feel relevant, bringing them is helpful — but not necessary. Many clients come with only their account of events, and that is a fine place to begin.
