Three Services, Three Kinds of Care
Each service is designed for a different moment in a family's journey — from a first hesitant letter to a complete and settled legal arrangement.

How We Approach Each Matter
Every engagement at Tepak Sirih begins with a listening session — a quiet conversation in which we ask questions and take careful notes, making no assumptions about what the situation requires until we have heard it properly. Only then do we discuss which of our services is likely to be most useful.
Our three services are not escalating tiers of the same thing — they are distinct engagements designed for distinct situations. A family needing a carefully worded letter does not need the full custody application process. A family seeking a comprehensive legal plan has different requirements again. We match the service to the situation, and we say so clearly when the fit is not right.
Service One
Initial Family Letter
A short, fixed-fee engagement in which the firm drafts a single letter to a family member or former spouse on the client's behalf, in measured language, with the aim of opening or sustaining a respectful conversation. Suitable for situations in which the relationship has cooled, communication has broken down, or a misunderstanding has begun to harden.
- One carefully drafted letter, reviewed with you before sending
- Tone calibrated to the relationship and the aim
- Suitable as a first step before any formal application
- Many disputes soften at this stage without further proceedings
How it works:
Initial conversation — you describe the situation and what you hope the letter will achieve
We draft the letter and share it with you for review and any adjustments
Final version sent under the firm's letterhead upon your approval
Service Two
Application for Sole or Joint Custody
Considered representation in custody applications under Malaysian civil family law, with care taken to keep the focus on the welfare of the children involved. We prepare the application calmly, gather supporting documents, and represent the client through hearings with full written updates. Where mediation is available, the firm encourages it before contested proceedings.
- Application preparation under the Guardianship of Infants Act 1961
- Document gathering and affidavit preparation included
- Representation at hearings in the Kuala Lumpur courts
- Written updates after each significant procedural step
- Mediation supported and encouraged where appropriate
The process:
Assessment of your situation and the applicable legal framework
Document preparation, gathering of supporting evidence, and filing
Attendance at all hearings with full representation and written updates throughout
Service Three
Settled Family Legal Plan
A patient, multi-session engagement that brings parenting arrangements, financial settlements, wills, and family memoranda into a single ordered legal plan. Designed for families who wish to leave their affairs in good order and reduce the chance of misunderstandings in years to come. Sessions move at the client's pace and may pause and resume as life requires.
- Parenting arrangements and custody memoranda
- Financial settlement documentation
- Will preparation and estate memoranda
- Multi-session format — sessions may pause and resume
- Single fixed fee regardless of session count
The engagement:
Opening session to map the family's legal situation and priorities
Working sessions addressing each element in turn, documented as you go
Final review and execution of the complete plan at a pace that suits the family
